<p>H+P:A would like to congratulate one of our long time clients, the <a href="http://www.unclejulios.com/" title="Uncle Julio's" target="_blank">Uncle Julio&#8217;s Corporation</a>, on the successful opening of their latest restaurant in <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&amp;source=s_q&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=449+Plaza+Real,+Boca+Raton,+FL%E2%80%8E&amp;sll=26.356882,-80.085118&amp;sspn=0.012267,0.02105&amp;gl=us&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;ll=26.356151,-80.085139&amp;spn=0.012267,0.02105&amp;z=16&amp;iwloc=addr" title="Map" target="_blank">Boca Raton, Florida</a>.  We had the pleasure of attending the opening night of the new restaurant this past weekend and it was a great success.  We wish them the best and encourage anyone in the area to give it a try, you will not be disappointed.</p>
<p>From a professional point-of-view, this project has great satisfaction for H+P:A, as this project presented a unique set of challenges.</p>
<p><span id="more-155"></span>The space, which this restaurant now occupies, was previously a woman&#8217;s clothing store and an art gallery.  The space occupies the ground level of a 3 story mixed use building, with office space above, and no allowance for mechanical access for the large amount of kitchen equipment needed. Working with the management company of the building complex, the design team and general contractor we where able to accommodate an uncompromised program for the restaurant, while maintaining the aesthetic character of the existing building.</p>
<p>In addition, the design team was able to produce an interior space which flows to the exterior patio spaces seamlessly.  A key goal to take advantage of the exceptional Floridian climate.  Married with a dramatic color scheme, careful lighting, and exceptional build quality, this project is one we feel confident will be a great success.</p>
<p>Project Team:</p>
<p>Architect: <a href="http://hammerspartners.com/" title="H+P:A" target="_blank">Hammers+Partners: Architecture</a></p>
<p>Lighting: <a href="http://www.2clighting.net/" title="2C Lighting" target="_blank">2C Lighting</a></p>

<p>General Contractor: <a href="http://www.rccassociates.com/home.htm" title="RCC" target="_blank">RCC Associates </a></p>
<p><em>Update: BocaRaton.com has a short video review of the new restaurant.  See it <a href="http://bocaraton.com/index.aspx?pid=1233" title="BocaRaton.com" target="_blank">here</a>.  See what some of the local media has to say: <a href="http://blogs.browardpalmbeach.com/shortorder/2009/03/uncle_julios_mexican_mizner/188288/" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://www.sun-sentinel.com/community/news/delraybeach/forum/sfl-flt2restaurant0401bbfapr01,0,3144643.story" title="Sun Sentinel" target="_blank">here</a>.  Also, see what people are saying on <a href="http://search.twitter.com/search?q=&amp;ands=Uncle+Julio%27s&amp;phrase=&amp;ors=Mizner+Park+Boca+Raton&amp;nots=&amp;tag=&amp;lang=all&amp;from=&amp;to=&amp;ref=&amp;near=&amp;within=15&amp;units=mi&amp;since=&amp;until=&amp;rpp=15" title="Twitter Feed" target="_blank">Twitter</a>.  </em></p>

<p>H+P:A has recently implemented a new office management software written especailly for architects, call Archioffice. Don&#8217;t blame me, I didn&#8217;t name it.  Beyond the lameness of the name, the software has enabled us to more easily track the progress of our projects from time sheets, expenses, communications, deadlines, documents, logs, etc.  Looks like it is going to be a real asset to the office.  Once we get all our staff familiar with the system, I think it will take a lot of administrative strain off our project managers.  So, if any of you architects are looking for an office management software tool, take a look at <a href="http://www.archioffice.com/" title="Archioffice Homepage" target="_blank">Archioffice.com</a>, and see what you think. You can see an online video demo of the software <a href="http://www.archioffice.com/pages/product/video_demo.html" title="Video Demo" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>

<p>In the further push towards a green building future, many more mainstream media companies are beginning to do pretty extensive stories on green homes and office buildings.  <a href="http://www.cnet.com" target="_blank">Cnet.com</a> has one such story up on the <a href="http://www.genzyme.com/default.asp" target="_blank">Genzyme Center</a> in Cambridge, Mass., by <span style="font-family: 'Arial'; font-size: 11pt; color: #669999"></span><a href="http://www.behnisch.com/#" target="_blank">Behnisch, Behnisch and Partner</a>, of Stuttgart, Germany; along with local architectural partner <a href="http://www.nps-architects.com/" target="_blank">Next Phase Studio</a>, of Boston, Mass.; constructed by <a href="http://www.turnerconstruction.com/" target="_blank">Turner Construction Company</a> in 2003. Cnet has a nice <a href="http://news.com.com/2300-11392_3-6203709-1.html?tag=ne.gall.pg" target="_blank">picture gallery</a> up with detailed descriptions of various systems and design details which make this building energy efficient, as well as, comfortable for its occupants.  Also, take  a look at the <a href="http://www.cnettv.com/9710-1_53-28997.html" target="_blank">video</a> related to the article.</p>
